What does onchain education look like and what makes it different from traditional education? Onchain education is the ability to own certifications by NFTs distributed from a verified Smart Contract. These NFT certificates are all onchain, in a decentralized blockchain that is globally recognized as true. LearnWeb3DAO is a free educational program that gives onchain certificates for students learning to code smart contracts and crypto.

They just suck. They don't make sense, & easy to forge.

See this really cool UI/UX Designer Certificate? If you were to pay for a $2,000 bootcamp and receive one of these, it's value and it's ownership is hard to judge. Most recruiters would look right past it. Plus, this one is Photoshopped anyways :)
NFTs true value lies not in the fact that anyone can make one, but the fact that they are onchain, and verifiable. Meaning, NFTs comes from a Smart Contract which enables anyone viewing it to easily find the owner. Let's do a quick rundown.
In this short gif you can see my blockchain address "mentalwealthacademy.eth" as well as all of the NFTs I hold. A few of them like founder's badges and badges for completing courses prove that I did complete them. You can also see events I attended such as Coinbase's Onchain Summer, and a few podcasts, interviews, and NFTs that I like as an individual.

The difference between a certificate you get from a website or a course versus an NFT is. These certificates are connected to your identity, and you actually own the digital item. The source can be traced back via the Smart Contract that created the NFT. Which gives the person looking a better understanding of who you are. (You can finally be seen!)
Abundant blockchain infrastructure paves the way for many great things but certificates and storing educational NFTs is only the tip of the iceberg.

With onchain education, things like badges, degrees, and certifications become things that truly matter and highlight who you are and what you did. You no longer need to look for or remember when you took that course, it's all onchain in your blockchain account's wallet.
Not only do you have access to it at any time, but you can also plug it into a website, or send someone the link so that they can view that you are indeed, the true owner.
The best part about this? Ownership of NFTs are globally recognized and verifiable as authentic. And while someone can always forge the NFT, they can't forge the contract with all the data and transactions on it. Etherscan.org does a great job at making it as humanly readable as possible.

Okay so we went over how an educational platform called LearnWeb3 DAO deals with onchain education certificates, but it's mostly learning how to code, how does the big Coinbase company do it?
Coinbase has learn-to-earn program called Quests. Where you answer a few questions and earn you crypto in just a few minutes. Their initiative gives incentive for people to learn about new crypto tokens and their usecases while simultaneously earning the token.
Base.org has a different learning initiative aimed for developers and technological readers. These people are often referred to as "builders" because they are using code and building apps and features that we can use crypto and onchain technology with. These people are well regarded as they are the ones helping to create the functions inside the new internet.
Crypto is a risky asset, always do research and ensure you are using trusted protocols and connecting to websites that you've doubled-checked, verified, etc. Scammers prey on this new technology and people's ignorance, so be diligent!
Thanks for reading, hope you were able to learn something new. As always, if you enjoyed please collect this to have it in YOUR wallet as well forever and let people see your journey. All of the funds go to the Mental Wealth Academy DAO, and help us fund more educational opportunities.
